Sunday 11th November
Armistice day, November the eleventh, this year falls on a Sunday and will be the hundredth anniversary of the end of the First World War. We do not have a service at Kentchurch on the second Sunday, but along with all other churches we want to mark this date and remember the sacrifices that brought thus dreadful conflict to an end. It is hoped that all church bells across the United Kingdom will ring out on that day. At St Mary's we shall mark two minutes silence at 11 o'clock and then ring our bells. We shall then have a short reflection on the war by reciting some of the remarkable poems that it inspired and playing recordings of some of the songs that became so popular. In all it should last half an hour.
Sunday 16th December
The annual Carol Service in rhyme and song, written by Roland Watkins, will be held in the church on Sunday the 16th of December at 6.00 pm, followed by mulled wine and mince pies. Everyone is welcome to have a rôle, do please volunteer! More information to follow...
